An Ideal Husband play from Heidelberg Theatre Company
Review
The Heidelberg Theatre Company once again has put on a remarkable production of ‘An Ideal Husband by Oscar Wilde’. offering a brilliant balance of charm, wit, and visual experience.
The costumes were meticulously crafted to reflect the elegance of 1890s London society. From Lady Chiltern’s graceful gowns to the bold and audacious attire of Mrs. Cheveley, amplifying the characters’ personalities and societal roles. They not only enrich the storytelling but also immerse the audience in the period’s atmosphere.
The set design is equally clever and transports the audience to a luxurious Victorian world. This production shines as a testament to the Heidelberg Theatre Company’s dedication to excellence in community theatre, making it a memorable interpretation of Wilde’s classic play.

About the play
Sir Robert Chiltern has it all: money, influence and a beautiful wife. What could possibly go wrong? Then the arrival in his London house of a woman who knows secrets from his past threatens to expose him to public shame and bring an end to both his stellar political career and his blissful marriage.
But, with colourful and intriguing characters, and with love hovering, comic possibilities abound and farce is just a closed door away. An Ideal Husband takes a delightfully satirical look at the political and social world of upper-class London in the 1890s.
Laughs aplenty in this Wilde classic.
