Four arrested after teenager injured in attempted armed robbery in Epping

Whittlesea Crime Investigation Unit detectives have arrested four teenagers after a boy was injured in an attempted armed robbery on Thursday.

Investigators have been told a 16-year-old boy was at Epping train station with friends when he was surrounded by a group of five males, at least four of which were armed with knives, about 9pm on 20 January.

The group made demands for the boy’s phone and when he refused an altercation occurred.

The 16-year-old sustained a suspected stab wound and ran to the Epping Police Station to report the incident.

He and was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police located and arrested four males near Thomastown train station later in the night.

A 16-year-old Broadmeadows boy, 14-year-old Thornbury boy, 16-year-old Reservoir boy and a 16-year-old Thomastown boy are currently assisting investigators with their enquiries.

Investigations into the incident remain ongoing.
