Hamas fires rockets at central Israel

Yesterday afternoon, Hamas launched a flurry of missiles that triggered air-raid sirens in the Tel Aviv region for the first time since at least late January. The attack demonstrated the group’s continued ability to launch long-range missiles.

According to the Israeli military, at least eight missiles were fired from Rafah, in southern Gaza, where Israeli forces have been making progress. Major damage was not immediately reported. Two women were reported to have minor injuries by Israel’s emergency services while running to a bomb shelter.

The International Court of Justice gave Israel an order on Friday to stop its military assault in Rafah, but some of the justices allowed for limited operations to continue. Following a meeting between the prime minister of Qatar and the heads of U.S. and Israeli intelligence in Paris, negotiators stated that cease-fire negotiations may resume the following week.
