Local business woman named as a finalist for National Awards
Leah Nerone of Wren & Myrtle has been named as a finalist for the 2021 AusMumpreneur Awards in the Sustainability, Women will change the world and People’s Choice Customer Service categories.
The AusMumpreneur Awards presented by The Women’s Business School celebrate and recognize Australian Mums in business achieving outstanding success in areas such as business excellence, product development, customer service and digital innovation. The awards are designed to recognize the growing number of women who successfully balance motherhood and business in a way that suits their life and family.
Leah is an eco-conscious mum, in early 2020 she launched Wren & Myrtle with a goal to help make cloth nappies accessible for all budgets. She has worked hard to produce a line of nappies that is ethically manufactured and follows eco and sustainable business practices to help deliver them to families who want to make a difference.
Leah is passionate about helping others in making more sustainable changes, and does her best to model eco-friendly parenting practices as she raises her two young twins.
Her business is eco-friendly and sustainable from product design to delivery. Leah has designed her products and adapted them to produce less waste, products are sent out in recycled and compostable packaging, and all shipping is carbon offset – supporting rainforest regeneration.
Leah is delighted to be named as a finalist and is proud of her achievements, particularly surviving her first year of business during the COVID-19 pandemic as a first time business owner.
There are many benefits to balancing business and motherhood as Leah explains, “I love being a role model for my kids, to have them with me as I run my business, pack orders and plan new products”.
It can be challenging to be a successful business woman whilst raising a family and Leah gives this advice for others thinking about starting their own enterprise ”Plan. Plan. Plan. 1 Year, 5 Year and beyond – where do you want to be and what’s going to take you there. Don’t be afraid to show your passion”.
