Rochdale: Four boys 12-14 arrested on suspicion of rape

Rochdale police have reported that four boys, aged between 12 and 14, have been placed under arrest on suspicion of rape.

At approximately 6.00pm GMT on Saturday 10th February 2024, police were alerted to reports of a rape in the Newbold area, according to Greater Manchester Police (GMP).

The four, who are 12, 13, 14, and 14 years old, were taken into police custody after their arrest.

The “young female” victim is receiving care, and the crime scene on Kingsway is still in situ, the force continued.

All day long, forensic investigators have been present at the location. A police canine squad joined the hunt and combed through the surrounding vegetation.

Anyone who may have seen something or was in the vicinity is urged to contact the police.

“Specialist policemen are now providing help to the victim.

We urge you to come forward and report any sexual assault or rape that you or someone you know has experienced to the police or a support group in order to avoid suffering in silence.
