Series of armed robberies in Melbourne’s north

Sunday, 26 May 2024 –

Police are appealing for public assistance following a series of armed and attempted armed robberies across Melbourne’s northern suburbs over the weekend.

The incidents occurred between Friday 24 May and Saturday 25 May at four different liquor stores.

• On Friday 24 May, about 8.35pm a male armed with a tyre iron entered a store on High Street, Reservoir and made demands for money before fleeing the scene with a small amount of cash.

• On Friday 24 May, about 10pm a male armed with a tyre iron entered a store on Wheatsheaf Road, Glenroy and threatened staff making demands for money. The store attendant armed himself with a baseball bat but was assaulted receiving minor injuries before the male fled the scene empty handed.

• On Saturday 25 May, about 8.50pm a male armed with a metal pole entered a store on Matilda Avenue, Wollert and threatened staff making demands for money before fleeing the scene empty handed.

• On Saturday 25 May, about 9.40pm a male armed with a metal pole threatened staff on Plenty Road, Bundoora and made demands for money before fleeing the store empty handed.

 

Investigators believe the same male is responsible for all four incidents.

He is described as Caucasian, with a solid build, brown hair and believed to be in his mid 30’s to 40’s.

On the first two occasions he was wearing a grey “NYC” baseball cap, black long sleeve jumper, white puffer jacket, black shorts and runners and a grey camo bumbag.

On the last two occasions he was wearing a black and camo baseball cap, black puffer jacket, black shirt with large yellow motif, grey tracksuit pants, white runners a black face covering and a black satchel bag.

Investigators have release CCTV and images of a man they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.
