Saturday 3 June 2023 1:53pm –

Officers from VIPER Taskforce have seized an imitation handgun and a hunting knife during a routine intercept in Truganina last night.

The red Holden Commodore first came to police attention on Leakes Road after the VIPER unit noticed its registration plate was hanging off, on Friday 2 June, about 8.30pm.

Police intercepted the sedan before they noticed a strong smell of what was believed to be cannabis.

A search of the vehicle uncovered an alleged imitation Glock handgun, quantity of cannabis and large hunting knife.

One of the passengers, a 22-year-old Truganina man, was arrested in relation to five outstanding warrants.

He is expected to be charged on summons in relation to possessing the firearm, prohibited weapon and stating a false name to police.

The 25-year-old probationary driver, also from Truganina, will be summonsed in relation to driving whilst suspended and failing to display p-plates.

His other passenger, a 21-year-old Truganina man, is expected to be summonsed in relation to stating a false name and address. He was issued a caution in relation to possession of the alleged cannabis.
