Witness appeal following police vehicle ramming and erratic driving in Euroa

Saturday 6 January 2024 8:57am –

Seymour Highway Patrol officers are appealing for witnesses after a police vehicle was rammed in Euroa on Wednesday.

Police have been told a grey Toyota Hilux dual cab utility was spotted travelling on the wrong side of the road northbound in the southbound lanes on the Hume Freeway between Avenel and Euroa, on 3 January between 8-8:30pm.

Investigators believe the Toyota was travelling in the wrong lanes for approximately 25kms.

Officers safely intercepted the Toyota, before exiting the police car to speak with the driver.

It is believed the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle then reversed into the police car, causing significant damage, before fleeing northbound on the freeway.

No one was injured.

Officers believe several witnesses may have seen the Toyota driving erratically.

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage of the Toyota on the Hume Freeway between Avenel and Euroa to come forward.

Investigators are also interested in anyone with information or footage of the Toyota following the collision.

Anyone who can assist police with their enquiries is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
